The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on the state governments to adopt the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) Act 2017 in order to effectively implement the law and provide the needed technical and other support to the older persons in the country.

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to commemorate the Day of zero Tolerance for the Practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) recalls the outcome of various researches which has revealed numerous protection and supervisory gaps in national and international frameworks, as it affects the survivors of FGM.

The National Human Rights Commission has urged the leadership of all religious groups in Nigeria to ensure that their adherents observe respect for constitutionally guaranteed rights to freedom of religion and worship to avoid unnecessary situations that could lead to violence.

The National Human Rights Commission is established to create an enabling environment for the promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights including the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
